StatCom at the University of Washington is a student-run volunteer organization which provides statistical consulting services free of charge to non-profits and community service groups in the Seattle area. Interested organizations should sign up here.
The mission of the StatCom Network is to provide pro bono statistical consulting to local nonprofit, government, and community service organizations and to engage students in voluntary, service-oriented statistical consulting and leadership. We are part of the larger StatCom network, launched by the American Statistical Association in 2006 and at UW since at least 2009. StatCom can provide assistance in a wide variety of areas, including but not limited to:
- Survey & study design
- Exploratory data analysis
- Data visualization
- Software tutorials
StatCom members generally work in small teams of 2-4 students (undergraduate and graduate) to provide a deliverable to the client. StatCom consulting teams are led by a graduate student in statistics/quantitative sciences with consulting experiences. Interested UW graduate/undergraduate students should sign up here.
Please note that we do not provide statistical consulting services to most clients within the University of Washington – such clients are advised to contact the University of Washington Statistical Consulting Service which is designed explicitly to meet the consulting needs of the university community. In addition, we cannot accept clients working for or affiliated with for-profit organizations.
